The competition program includes work to restore damaged elements of a work of decorative-applied art made of wood (making a drawing, dismantling, restoration of mechanical damage, conservation, regeneration of finish coatings).
1. General description of the practical work
The task contains a typical set of operations performed during the restoration of a replica of a product that has a variety of damages. All competitors work with identical items that have the same defects.
The competitors start the task by making a drawing of the existing product.
Based on the working documentation, competitors must demonstrate the application of their theoretical knowledge in practice.
Working time is limited only by the total duration of the competition. The sequence of working steps and technological solutions when performing the task is individually varied by participants.
The total duration of the competition is approximately 10-12 hours, depending on the technical task.
The competition takes place in a one-to-one mode: 1 contestant per job.
The result of the work is a restored product, with maximum preservation of the original elements during the restoration work.
Participants independently plan the course of work and distribute time.
2. Instructions for task implementation (technological operations)
The item is dimensioned, the drawing is made in three projections, at a given scale. Spatial representation of the item is possible.
Partial disassembly of structural and decorative elements is performed for the restoration work.
Cleaning away glue residue from woodwork joints is performed.
Replacing the loss of the carpentry component of the product with the provided materials.
Finishing coatings are applied to the restored fragments.
