Study in Chemistry in Munich and Würzburg In 1987 he received the Ph.D. in Chemistry in Munich He started his career as a Scientific Assistant in the Bavarian State Authority for the Conservation of Monuments (BLfD) Engaged as a Researcher in the Project “Deterioration and Conservation of Natural Stone” After being a Free lance Consultant in Conservation …he then went back to the State Authority for Conservation of Monuments and worked on a Research Project for cultural Heritage in the province Shaanxi in China. He has been the Head of the laboratory at the Swiss Institue for Art Research (SIK) at Zurich / Switzerland Since 2003 he is Professor for Archaeometry and Science in Conservation at Dresden Academy of Fine Arts
